Torrent Pharmaceuticals will
purchase
roughly a 46% stake in JB Chemicals in a deal worth 11.9 billion rupees ($1.38 billion), and then the two companies will enter a merger agreement, according to a Sunday release. The deal gives Ahmedabad-based Torrent access to JB’s “fast-growing” India franchise and CDMO capabilities. It should also expand Torrent’s international footprint. JB has a big presence in India’s hypertension market but also has significant market share in Russia and South Africa. It exports its drugs to more than 40 countries including the US.
Contract manufacturer Future Pak will
acquire
Theratechnologies
in a deal worth up to $254 million, according to a Wednesday release. The move will be made via Future Pak’s affiliate, CB Biotechnology. This is Future Pak’s first addition of a pharma group into its portfolio. Theratechnologies has faced some
supply issues
for its HIV drug, Egrifta SV, in recent months over issues at a third-party manufacturer.
Sandoz has started
construction
of a $440 million biosimilar production facility in Brnik, Slovenia, the company said Tuesday.
Piramal Pharma Solutions is
spending
$90 million to expand its drug substance and API site in Riverview, MI, and its fill-finish factory in Lexington, KY. The Riverview expansion is expected to be completed by the end of the year and the Lexington factory by late 2027, according to the Monday release.
Simtra BioPharma Solutions has
finished
its expansion of its sterile injectable factory in Halle, Germany, according to a Monday release. The expansion added 150 new jobs.
EuroAPI is
selling
its UK site in Haverhill to Particle Dynamics, the company said Monday. No financial details were disclosed. Particle will take on the projects at the Haverhill site, where 80% of revenue is attributed to Sanofi. EuroAPI
spun out
of Sanofi in April 2022.
Soligenix has
transferred
manufacturing of its synthetic hypericin API to Sterling Pharma Solutions. Sterling will make this API for Soligenix for its clinical trials, with the goal of potentially also making this commercially down the line. The APIs are used in topical drugs to treat skin lesions.
Klotho Neurosciences
has started
making
clinical trial materials for its amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) gene therapy candidate, codenamed KLTO-202, the company said Monday.
Cell and gene therapy CDMO ProBio
has
opened
its Cell and Gene Therapy Center of Excellence at the Princeton West Innovation Campus in Hopewell, NJ. The new 128,000-square-foot site will make DNA plasmids and viral vectors, according to a Friday release.

construction
of its new $285 million clinical manufacturing facility in Des Plaines, IL, according to a Friday release.
EQT Healthcare Growth is to
acquire
a majority stake in chemical and reagent supplier Europa Biosite, the company said Thursday. No financial details were disclosed.
Neurizon Therapeutics has
signed
a licensing agreement with Elanco Animal Health for its API called Monepantel. The API is used in the development of its lead asset which is being investigated as a treatment for ALS.
Axplora is
spending
€35 million to expand a facility in Italy, the company said Monday.
