OSR Acquires Woori IO OSR Holdings has closed its acquisition of South Korea-based Woori IO, a company developing next-generation continuous glucose monitoring devices. OSR first reported its intent to acquire the CGM developer in July.

Healthcare company OSR Holdings has taken the first steps to acquire South Korean-based medical device company Woori IO, which develops next-generation noninvasive continuous glucose monitors. The company will be officially acquired by OSR Holdings' Korean affiliate, and WORIO will become a wholly owned subsidiary. WORIO’s shareholders will have the option to receive shares of OSRH. WORIO’s CGM has completed a proof-of-concept study in Korea, earning approvals to conduct a larger confirmatory trial to validate its accuracy and effectiveness. Having been selected as an innovative startup program in 2025 by Samsung Electronics, WORIO aims to integrate its wearable glucose monitoring devices into devices such as smart watches. "We view this term sheet with Woori IO as a significant strategic milestone, not only for OSR Holdings but also for the future of noninvasive glucose monitoring globally. Several major device companies have set their sights on the development of non-invasive CGM’s over the last several years, as the blood glucose monitoring devices market is expected to exceed $40 billion by 2030. This is predicted to be driven by noninvasive and wearable CGMs. This growth will also be driven by an increasing number of patients being diagnosed with diabetes, and an interest from patients wanting to avoid daily invasive finger pricks. CGM market leader Dexcom currently has more than $32 billion in market capitalization. In 2023, the CGM market also saw a notable expansion when continuous glucose monitoring systems secured Medicare coverage. While Dexcom is known as a market leader in the space, several other medtech companies are also seeing growth from CGM’s, including Abbott , Glucotrack , Medtronic , and Senseonics . The deal between OSR and Woori is expected to close six months after both companies sign a Term Sheet.
