The measurement of M-shell x-ray production from 74W under energetic highly charged ion (Arq+) impact has been reported. The intensity ratios, IMk/IMαb, (Wherek = ξ,γ,δ,m1,m2) for Tungsten induced by 875-2100 keV Arq+(q = 7,8) ions have been measured. These intensity ratios have been compared with estimated intensity ratios based on ECPSSR and ECUSAR models.Significant difference have been observed between measured and estimated intensity ratios. However, no significant effect of the mean charge state or projectile vacancy configuration is found on the theor. intensity ratios. For present measurements, natural 74W targets of ∼ 230μg/cm2 thickness, deposited on a very thin carbon backing of 12μg/cm2 thickness, have been fabricated in ultra-high vacuum environment by the evaporation method using 8 kW electron beam. The targets have been characterized by X-ray Diffractometry, SEM, and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy. The thicknesses of the targets have been measured using the Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry.
