The Lipoprint LDL System was used to generate profiles for 271 patient samples. Lipoprint resolves up to 12 lipoprotein fractions, differentiating between VLDL, IDL, large (buoyant) LDL, small (dense) LDL and HDL. Patient samples were classified into normolipidemic and dyslipidemic using NCEP guidelines. Normal reference ranges for eight lipoprotein parameters were established based on the normolipidemic population. These normal reference ranges were used to investigate samples with normal and abnormal LDL-C levels. In addition the mean HDL-C levels in the normolipidemic and the dyslipidemic populations were compared.
