In order to use corn steep liquor to produce yeast, we cultured the yeast using desterilized culture media after adjusting pH of culture media to 4.0, approx. 10 g/100 mL wet biomass of yeast was achieved when cultured by flask shaking, while 20-30 g/100 mL wet biomass of yeast was gained by culture in fermentor. Adding the yeast just cultured into the lysine broth which was just adjusted to pH4.0, then continue fermentation about 6 h under sterilized conditions, after that, the residue glucose of the lysine broth was decreased and the viscosity of the lysine broth was reduced. This finding not only provides a solution to the pollution problem of corn steep liquor but also improves lysine production progress drastically, and likely induces economic benefit and social benefit.
