A TLC method for the simultaneous determination of ginsenosides Ra, Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Re, Rd, Rg1, Rf, and Rg2 was developed; the resp. retention Rf values were 0.25, 0.30, 0.35, 0.39, 0.43, 0.49, 0.53, 0.56, and 0.60.Merck HP-TLC silica gel F254 plates and developing solvent mixture of chloroform, Et acetate, methanol, and water (15:40:22:9) were used.The detection reagent contained 0.5 mL p-anisaldehyde, 10 mL glacial acetic acid, 85 mL methanol, and 5 mL sulfuric acid.Pulverized samples were extracted with methanol, concentrated by evaporation, diluted with water, and cleaned up on solid-phase extraction C18 cartridges.The analytes were eluted from the cartridges with methanol and applied on TLC plates.The method has a good concentration linearity range, recovery 99.6±2.4%, detection limit ∼10 ng/spot, and precision 2.73-4.59%.
