Shari Slate will join CVS Health effective Feb. 27 as its new chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer.

Shari Slate will join the healthcare giant effective Feb. 27 as its new chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. Slate will report to Chief People Officer Laurie Havanec.

In the new role, Slate will be responsible for driving innovative solutions that ensure the company's 300,000-strong workforce reflects the customers it serves, CVS said. She will also spearhead efforts to embed DE&I into the company's business processes, workforce programs and community initiatives.

“Shari is a respected business leader and a champion of innovative people-oriented practices related to diversity and inclusion,” Havanec said in the release. “Her addition to our team will help us continue to build our diverse, inclusive and consumer-focused culture that’s at the heart of everything we do.”

Slate comes to CVS Health after spending a decade at Cisco in critical DE&I roles. She served as the company's chief inclusion and collaboration officer, leading the charge of developing solutions to develop diverse talent at every level.

In addition, she helmed the creation of Cisco's Inclusive Future Action Office, which managed a budget of $300 million.
