Simultaneous vs. Staged Resection of Colorectal Cancer With Synchronous Liver Metastases - A Multicentre Randomized Controlled Trial
The SYLMET Trial is a randomized trial to compare simultaneous and two-staged resection of primary colorectal and synchronous liver metastases. This is an investigator-initiated, multicentre, randomized controlled trial to assess complications (primary endpoint), survival, cost-effectiveness, and quality of life (secondary endpoints). This trial will include patients with resectable primary tumour in the colon or upper rectum with less than five liver metastases that is possible to treat with surgical resection and/or ablation (RFA/MWA) at time of evaluation.
The Effect of Topical Tranexamic Acid on Postoperative Complications in Soft Tissue Plastic Surgery. A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial
Study objective:
This is a study to investigate whether applying the drug tranexamic acid (TXA) onto a surgical wound surface may affect the incidence of surgical complications such as re-bleeding needing intervention, wound complications such as infection, wound rupture or seroma, or if it may increase the risk of blood clots.
Eligible patients:
Patients undergoing plastic surgical procedures with wounds that would normally receive application of TXA to reduce bleeding after surgery.
Study intervention:
Participants will receive a single local application of study drug onto their wound surfaces at the end of surgery. Study drug will be identical looking ampoules which contain either TXA or placebo (saline). Neither participants nor study personnel will know the contents of the ampoules.
A Placebo Controlled Randomized Double-blind Parallel Group 12-month Trial of Fasudil for the Treatment of Early Alzheimer's Disease (FEAD)
The goal of this placebo-controlled double-blind Phase 2 clinical trial is to test in people with early Alzheimer's Disease.
The main questions it aims to answer are:
Does treatment with fasudil, a ROCK-inhibitor, lead to significant improvement in working memory (based on computer-based working memory composite scores) compared to placebo in individuals with early Alzheimer's disease (AD) over 12 months?
What is the effect of fasudil treatment for 12 months on other cognitive functions, brain metabolism measured by Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography (FDG-PET), and other relevant clinical functions and biomarkers in individuals with early Alzheimer's disease (AD)?
Treatment will be escalated to a maintenance dose of 120 mg total daily dose for up to 50 weeks, with regular clinic visits for efficacy and safety evaluations.
Assessments will include cognitive tests, FDG-PET scans, and biomarker analyses, with follow-up by the Data and Safety Monitoring Board for ongoing safety review.
The study will compare participants receiving fasudil with those receiving placebo to see if fasudil treatment leads to improvements in cognitive functions, brain metabolism measured by FDG-PET.
