Determination of emodin and physcion in Radix et Caulis Ventilaginis Leiocarpae by HPLC

A HPLC method was established for determination of emodin and physcion in Radix et Caulis Ventilaginis Leiocarpae to provide scientific basis for use and quality control of the medicinal material.The separation was performed on Agilent Eclipse XDB C₁₈ (4.6 mm × 150 mm, 5 μm) column with mobile phase of methanol-0.1% phosphoric acid solution (75:25), flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, detection wavelength of 285 nm and column temperature of 30°.The linear ranges of emodin and physcion were 0.0063-0.063 μg (r = 0.9999) and 0.0014-0.014 μg (r = 0.9995), resp.The average recoveries of the added samples of emodin and physcion were 102.0% (RSD = 1.58%) and 103.5% (RSD = 1.54%), resp.The method is simple, accurate and can be used for the determination of emodin and physcion in Radix et Caulis Ventilaginis Leiocarpae.

Optimization of reflux extraction process of Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus by central composite design/response surface methodology

Objective: To obtain the optimal extraction process of schizandrin in Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus.Methods: Independent variables were ethanol concentration, reflux time and solvent fold, and dependent variable was the amount of schizandrin.Central composite design/response surface mythol. was carried out by comparing the observed and predicted values.Results: The optimum conditions of extraction process were 65% ethanol, 160 min for reflux, and 10 old solvent.Regression coefficients of binomial fitting complex model was 0.9728.Bias between observed values and predicted values was -0.85%.Conclusion: The optimum model is highly predictive.This method can be used as a reference for the extraction of Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus.

Study on quality standard for Qingshenjianfei tablets

This paper established the quality standard for Qingshenjianfei tablets (Astragalus membranaceus, Radix et rhizoma rhei, Artemisia capillaris, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Fructus Crataegi, etc.).Astragalus membranaceus, Radix et rhizoma rhei, Artemisia capillaris, Salvia miltiorrhiza, and Fructus Crataegi were identified by TLC.Emodin and chrysophanol of Radix et rhizoma rhei were determined by HPLC.The results showed that the average recoveries of emodin and chrysophanol were 100.3% and 100.5% with RSD of 1.5% and 1.6%, resp.The TLC sports developed were fairly clear, and the blank test showed no interference.In conclusion, the method is accurate and the reproducible, and can be used for quality control of the Qingshenjianfei tablets.
