This study investigated the Formosan plant secondary metabolites of Hydrangea chinensis. The specimen of Hydrangea chinensis (Saxifragaceae) was collected from Pintong County, Taiwan in Jan., 2016. The stems (3.1 kg) of H. chinensis were air dried and extracted repeatedly with MeOH (3L x 5) at room temperature Subfraction (3.4 g) was further purified on a silica gel column using n-hexane-CH2Cl2 mixtures to obtain linoleic acid (1), Me palmitate (2), β-sitostenone (3), 6-hydroxycoumarin (4), umbelliferone (5), β-sitosterol (6), p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (7), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (8), vanillic acid (9), syringaldehyde (10), skimmin (11), febrifugine (12) and isofebrifugine (13).
