To establish a method for detecting oleanolic acid and ursolic acid in leaves of Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.An HPLC method was adopted.The column was Hypersil BDS C18, with the mobile phase of methanol-0.2% ammonium acetate solution (85:15), the flow rate of 0.6 mL/min, the detection wavelength of 210 nm, and the column temperature of 25°.The average recovery of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid was 104.3% and 97.5%, resp. with RSD of 1.2% and 2.2% (n = 6).This method is simple, sensitive, and rapid, and can be used in the quality control of Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.
