Avecho has announced that both the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the European Patent Office (EPO) have allowed the Company’s patent applications relating to its proprietary cannabidiol (CBD) TPM ® soft-gel capsule, designed to enhance the absorption of CBD. These allowances strengthen Avecho’s intellectual property position across two major global markets and extend protection for the formulation, including applications beyond CBD, through to at least 2040. Avecho CEO, Dr Paul Gavin, said: “Allowance of these applications in both Europe and the United States marks an important milestone for Avecho. It expands protection of our CBD TPM soft-gel capsule across two of the world’s largest pharmaceutical markets. Avecho has announced the activation of three new clinical trial sites for our pivotal Phase III insomnia trial – two in Sydney and one on the Gold Coast. This expansion significantly enhances the Company’s recruitment capabilities as it targets completion of dosing for approximately 210 subjects before conducting a planned interim analysis. The new sites maintain independent databases of insomnia patients, providing an immediate and valuable pool of prospective trial participants. Following the exclusive licensing agreement with Sandoz in March 2025 – which included a substantial upfront payment of US $3M, with a further US $16M plus royalites committed in development milestones prior to commercial sales – the first strategic meeting was held last month to plan for future regulatory submission and commercial product launch in Australia. Healthcare and life sciences expert Scott Power, who has been a senior analyst with Morgans Financial for 27 years, gave his take on the ASX healthcare sector for the week and his ‘Powerplay’ stock pick. He highlighted Avecho’s recently signed development and licensing agreement with Sandoz Group AG: “Under the deal Avecho is eligible for development milestone payments totalling US$16m prior to commercialisation and will receive tiered royalties ranging from 14% to 19% on net sales once on market.
