Nitazoxanide and Lansoprazole Based Regimens for Managing Helicobacter Pylori in Egyptian Patients (NILE Study)
The study will evaluate the eradication rate and tolerability of modified LOAD regimens (three antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor (lansoprazole)) for management of HP infection in treatment-naive patients as well as patients who failed previous therapies.
Safety and Efficacy of Midodrine Hydrochloride in the Management of Refractory Ascites Due to Cirrhosis in Children: a Pilot Study
Ascites in liver cirrhosis is explained by increased production of vasoactive substances leading to renal vasoconstriction and salt and water retention. The retained water then accumulates in the peritoneal cavity under the effect of portal hypertension and low albumin. Refractory ascites is defined as ascites that cannot be mobilized or prevented from early recurrence after large-volume paracentesis despite medical therapy and dietary sodium restriction. Midodrine is an α1 receptor agonist that can improve systemic and renal hemodynamics in non-azotemic cirrhotic patients by counteracting mesenteric vasodilatation, which is accentuated in cirrhosis.
Utility of High-resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) Scan of the Chest in Diagnosis of COVID-19 Patients Presenting With Non-pulmonary Manifestations
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) can present with pulmonary and non-pulmonary manifestations or it may be asymptomatic. Asymptomatic patients have a major impact on transmission of the disease and prediction of their outcome and prognosis is challenging. We aim to identify the predictors of intensive care unit (ICU) admission and mortality in hospitalized COVID-19 patients with initially asymptomatic presentation. This was a prospective multi-center study using cohort data included all admitted patients aged 21 years and above, with different clinical presentations other (than pulmonary manifestation) and discovered to have COVID-19. Demographic data, clinical data and progression were reported. Univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis were performed to predict ICU admission and mortality during hospitalization.
