One hundred and two elderly male T2DM patients were involved and according to IMT they were divided into normal carotid intima group and Thickening with atherosclerosis carotid intima group. Patients' age, smoking, duration of diabetes, DBP, TC, LDL-C and uric acid were significantly higher and total bilirubin was significantly lower in thickening with atherosclerosis carotid intima group than those in normal carotid intima group (P<0.05). Patients' age, bilirubin, uric acid and duration of diabetes were the risk factors in T2DM patients. Uric acid is closely related with hyperlipidemia, bilirubin and cardiovascular events.
