Flavonoid constituents of aerial parts of Blumea balsamifera were studied. The compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and medium pressure column chromatog., and their structures were elucidated by spectral methods and chem. anal. Twelve compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as 3,3',5,5',7-pentahydroxyflavanone (1), 3,3',4',5-tetrahydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone (2), chrysoeriol (3), 3',4',5-trihydroxy-3,7-dimethoxyflavone (4), diosmetin (5), 3,3',4',5-tetrahydroxy-7-methoxyflavone (6), 3,5-dihydroxy-3',4',7-trimethoxyflavone (7), chrysosplenol C (8), 3,3',5-trihydroxy-4',7-dimethoxyflavanone (9), blumeatin (10), 3,3',5,7-tetrahydroxy-4'-methoxyflavanone (11) and 3',5,5',7-tetrahydroxyflavanone (12). Among them, compounds 1, 3-5 and 8 were isolated from the genus Blumea for the first time, and compounds 6, 7 were isolated from B. balsamifera for the first time.
