In this research, liquid phase sintering of MgFe2O4 with a Bi2O3-Fe2O3 additive was studied.Initially, MgFe2O4 powder was synthesized at 1150 °C, then 3 wt% additive with (1-x)Bi2O3.xFe2O3 (x=0.00, 0.04, 0.08, 0.12) was added to the powder and sintered at 1050 °C.The x=0.04 sample showed the highest d. of ∼4.40 g/cm3.Cubic spinel ferrite and phases containing bismuth oxide were formed in all samples, notably, only x=0.08 and x=0.12 samples consist hematite.Uniform microstructure was achieved for x=0.00 and 0.04 samples while other samples exhibited non-uniform porous microstructures.EDS anal. revealed uniform iron distribution in the grains of x=0.04 sample, unlike the x=0.00 sample.Impedance spectroscopy indicated increased elec. resistivity in x=0.04 compared to x=0.00.Saturation magnetization peaked at 18.5 emu/g for x=0.04, then decreased, while coercive force rose from 13.2 to 30.2 Oe with increasing x.The x=0.04 additive acted as the optimal sintering aid, improving elec. and magnetic properties.
