The antivirus granules (unsugared) prepared from traditional Chinese medicines were used for treatment of virus influenza . Matrine in Sophora subprostrata was identified by TLC with Et acetate-chloroform-concentrated ammonium solution as developing solvent and diluted bismuth potassium iodide as color developing agent. Artemisia apiacea Hance and Angelica dahurica were identified also by TLC with chloroform-methanol (10:0.5) as developing solvent. The matrine content was determined by HPLC on Turner Kromasil C18 column (150 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 μm) with acetonitrile-0.025 mol L-1 ammonium sulfate-Na dodecyl sulfate [40:60:0.6(g), pH 3.0 adjusted by sulfuric acid] as mobile phase and the detection at 210 nm. The calibration linearity was in the range 0.1885-3.9896 μg with r = 0.9997. The average recovery was 97.8% with RSD 1.48%.
