This study aimed to develop a strategy for the determination of di-Me sulfate in pantoprazole sodium Active Principal Ingredient (API) employing ion chromatog. (IC).API samples were first dissolved in sodium hydroxide solutionThen, Me hydrogen sulfate was determined by IC in elec. conductivity detector mode under the anion suppressor by using KOH solution as the eluent.Due to that di-Me sulfate hydrolyzes to equivalent mole of Me hydrogen sulfate, the concentration of di-Me sulfate could be obtained by analyzing the Me hydrogen sulfate concentrationThe limit of detection was 7 ng·mL-1.The assay was linear over the concentration range of 15 ng·mL-1 to 5 μg·mL-1 with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9998.The spiked recoveries were between 87.5% and 98.5% at three concentration levels (low, medium and high). The relative standard deviation (RSD) was 6.5%from six consecutive LOQ concentration analyses of the same sample. The method is accurate, sensitive, precise, and low cost with min. sample preparationIt is not only a suitable approach for the determination of di-Me sulfate in pantoprazole sodium API, but also a guideline for di-Me sulfate quantification in other types of API and preparations
